Starting last night (the 26th), autonomous driving taxis began operating in the Gangnam area of Seoul. This marks the first such service in Korea. Through the end of the year, the service will be available free of charge and will operate during nighttime hours only.

The taxis autonomously perceive and respond to their surrounding environment while driving. Reporter Hong Young-jae experienced the service firsthand to assess whether it can navigate Gangnam’s complex road conditions safely.
