TMAP Mobility announced on the 17th that it has entered into a business cooperation agreement with autonomous driving technology company SWM to promote collaboration in autonomous driving technologies and services.

Founded in 2005, SWM supplies in-vehicle software solutions to domestic and global automotive OEMs. The company independently develops autonomous vehicles and solutions and currently provides paid transportation services to the general public in areas including Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and Dalseong-gun, Daegu.

Starting with this agreement, the two companies plan to launch a beta service from October within an 85-kilometer free-route autonomous driving pilot operation zone in Gangnam, Seoul.

The ultimate objective is to realize a Level 4 autonomous driving service comparable to those being demonstrated by GM Cruise and Google Waymo in San Francisco, California.

Jung Min-gyu, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of TMAP Mobility, stated, “We will continue to identify and further develop a wide range of new collaboration opportunities to drive innovation through the integration of autonomous driving technologies.”
